What is a permalink and how to do I locate it?

A permalink is the link that is used to access a specific piece of content on a website. For articles and books, the permalink is a stable URL for another individual to use to access a record. Each database is slightly different, however, the permalink should be available in most library databases. Below are a few common examples.

Library's Catalog

To access an items permalink in the library's catalog, select the chainlink icon, as seen below. 

GALE Databases

In a GALE database, click on the item's title, then select the "Get Link" icon, as seen below. 

EBSCO Databases

Select the item in the results list, then select "Permalink" under tools on the right side of the screen, as seen below.
