Q. How do I access online (electronic) resources?

Answer

Accessing Online (Electronic) Resources

To access McKee Library's electronic resources, please visit the library's website. Electronic resources can be found by searching using the "Search Everything" tool on the homepage, the "Articles" tab, or the "Research" tab. It is important, especially if you are using the library's resources off-campus, that you are logged into your Southern Adventist University account prior to searching.

McKee Library electronic resources, including journal articles available in databases, e-books, and streaming media, are available to those with a Southern Adventist University username and password. Community library users may access these resources using one of the library's computers.

Search Everything vs. Research Guides

The search tab allows you to search using the library's Google-like search tool, called "Search Everything." This tool is an excellent resource for general research. For more subject specific searching based on your academic discipline or course, select the "Research" tab, which will take you to a list of subject specific research guides. There is a specific subject guide for each academic discipline on campus, as well as a guide for some individual courses. The landing page of the research guide provides you with a listing of subject-specific databases. Additional resources available in the guide include multidisciplinary databases, reference materials, news resources, and citation tools.

Research Strategy and Help

McKee Library has created several tutorials that demonstrate how to best research using McKee Library tools. For a complete listing of available resources, please visit the Tutorials and Workshops page. For one-on-one research help, please schedule an appointment with a research coach (librarian).

Accessing Materials Not Available at McKee Library

Should you discover that we do not have the particular resource , you can request the article through interlibrary loan (ILL), at no cost to you. More information about ILL can be found on our Information and Policies page.
